10 weeks and 3 days

Here is a picture of me 10 weeks and 3 days pregnant (aka today!)
Please feel free to ignore what I am wearing (it's study week give me a break!)

Ok so it's official...well it was official about a month ago, but since I only just managed to get the internet connected in this house, I am 4 weeks late of announcing the news ONLINE.

I guess I'm going to start with what has been happening these last few weeks. Firstly, Chris and I went for our very first ultrasound on the 9th May to find out exactly how old our little bean was. Turns out he/she was only 6 weeks and 6 days old at the time we had the scan, very small. My doctor had told me that I could be up to 12 weeks judging by my LMP (last menstrual period for all those out there who aren't down with the lingo) and finding out it was only half this age was both good and bad.

GOOD: because it means I could now stop eating bad foods, looking after myself and all those times I went out drinking were BEFORE I actually become pregnant (at least the majority of them where).

BAD: since I was only coming up to 7 weeks I was just over half way through my first trimester which meant I had all those exciting things to look forward to like feeling queasy 24/7 and having a super intense sense (say that quickly) of smell to things that made me feel even more sick.

So then began the next few weeks (and still currently going) of nausea. Now I don't like throwing up at the best of time, but you know what's 10 times worse than throwing up? Feeling SICK and NOT throwing up, just dry reaching and gagging at the smell of any type of food that comes into range of my nostril's (Number 1 being the smell of salmon and unfortunately the smell of our kitchen in which i hold my breath every time I enter to grab something to eat, or suffer the consequence of throwing up in the sick)

When I'm not feeling nauseous (which is about 50% of the time) I am absolutely EXHAUSTED, I never knew simply being pregnant made you feel like you just ran 10ks and then decided to squeeze a 2 hour canoe ride in afterwards. Currently I am nothing but a student who survives on centrelink money, so I wouldn't say I do a lot of backbreaking work, in fact I'm either sitting in a class room, or sitting at home watching T.V. The only time I'm walking is too and from the house to the bus stop, and from the bus stop to uni, with possibly a few side tracks to Chris's work or the shops but nothing more. Anyway, the point is, I can quite easily feel so tired that I cant even move or be bothered doing anything or go anywhere unless I have to.

So I have to say that so far being pregnant, although very exciting, is quite difficult and overwhelming at times to deal with. I have my good days where I feel really good and really happy, but then I have my days where all I want to do is lie down for the entire day and have someone bring me the right foods to eat, or go shopping and get me some good food.

I find eating the right food to be the hardest thing for me, I never really think too much about what I'm eating, more about how much I eat, which I guess was my biggest problem. I never ate a lot of fruit, I never ate breakfast, I drank a lot of coffee, and I would often eat about 1 meal a day as apposed to 3 meals. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I had to start eating breakfast and I couldn't last without eating till lunch otherwise I felt ill. So now I eat about 6 small meals a day, except on those days when there is not a lot of food in the fridge (i.e today) and I have to opt for wheatbix and half a packet of S&V chips, hence why I now feel completely awful.

So I guess that's about all I have to say about everything? It would be good to hear from anyone who has been pregnant and some ways to stop feeling sick/tired all the time and even some good food to buy for those who aren't so cooking inclined (I really don't know how to cook)

I will most likely be giving weekly updates on what is happening and hopefully on the 16th of June (my next ultrasound) I will have some photos of the VIF ("Very Important Foetus") to put up on here.
